January 15, 2025   |   Aimee Moore

Firm member Ryan Holt was featured on the January 13th episode of Trust and Trade, a podcast hosted by the American Bar Association’s Antitrust Law Section, where he discussed the challenges of arguing RICO violations in antitrust suits. Listen to the episode here.

Initially used to bring down organized crime rings, claims under the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (RICO) have appeared in plaintiffs’ lawsuits in the LIBOR and broiler chicken price-fixing cases. Host Anant Raut and co-host Samuel Randall of Sperling Kenny Nachtwalter talked with Ryan Holt and Christina López (formerly of the California DOJ) on the challenges of arguing RICO violations in antitrust suits. They wrap up by discussing how RICO claims might apply to algorithmic pricing.

Ryan Holt practices complex commercial litigation and antitrust litigation in which he represents large corporate clients in courts around the country. Among other high-stakes business disputes, he has recently litigated covenants not to compete and trade secrets, commercial real estate transactions, contract disputes, business torts, and shareholder and corporate-governance issues.

Trust and Trade is one of the flagship podcasts of the American Bar Association’s Antitrust Law Section. The podcast features in-depth discussions by experts in the fields of antitrust, consumer protection, and privacy, and reaches a global audience of practitioners, enforcers, policymakers, and thought leaders.
