Sherrard Roe is proud to share that Eric Osborne has been selected for membership in the American Law Institute.
The American Law Institute (ALI) is the nation’s leading independent organization dedicated to clarifying, modernizing, and improving the law. The Institute develops and publishes Restatements of the Law, Model Codes, and Principles of Law that help shape judicial decisions, legislative action, legal scholarship, and legal education. Members have the opportunity to shape the law in established and emerging areas, collaborate with each other, and give back to a profession to which they are deeply committed, and advance the public good.
The Institute elects members who exemplify the excellence and diversity of the legal profession. Its membership, which is limited to just 3,000 people across the country, includes distinguished judges, attorneys, and law professors from across the United States and around the world, chosen for their professional accomplishments and demonstrated commitment to advancing the law. Membership begins with a confidential nomination submitted by an existing ALI member and supported by two additional members. Nominees are expected to demonstrate exceptional legal ability, high personal character, a willingness to contribute meaningfully to the Institute’s work, and a strong commitment to its mission.
Eric Osborne is an accomplished attorney and Professor of Contracts who focuses his litigation practice on contract disputes, antitrust, and novel constitutional and civil rights cases. He also serves as outside counsel to multiple churches and non-profits, chairs the Tennessee Supreme Court’s Access to Justice Commission and regularly helps clients navigate issues related to the government, such as bid protests and government investigations. Eric is best known for his work handling high-profile matters involving novel constitutional and other issues of law.
