Tracy Powell Inducted into The University of Southern Mississippi Alumni Association Hall of Fame

Sherrard Roe Voigt & Harbison Member Tracy Powell has been inducted into the University of Southern Mississippi (USM) Alumni Association Hall of Fame. Seven of the University’s most dedicated and distinguished alumni were welcomed into its Hall of Fame on October 8, 2021, as one of the highlights of the 2021 Homecoming celebration. This honor recognizes Tracy’s over thirty-year commitment to his alma mater.

Following his law school graduation in 1989, Tracy remained in Nashville and revived the Nashville USM alumni chapter by organizing local meetings and activities. A loyal and devoted USM fan, this was Tracy’s first step to a very fulfilling and meaningful role as an alum. He received an Outstanding Service Award in 1993 and the Continuous Service Award in 1997 from the USMAA.

Tracy’s service to the University includes a three-year term on the USM Alumni Association’s national board and a three-year term on the board of the USM Foundation. In 2017-2018, he was elected and served as president of the national USMAA and recently began another three-year term on the USM Foundation board.

Through the years, Tracy supported his alma mater as a season football and basketball ticket holder. He also made a very personal and vital commitment to the University by establishing an endowed scholarship. The scholarship is awarded to a College of Business and Economic Development student interested in a career in law, with a preference for first-generation college families.

The Alumni Hall of Fame was started in 1987 to recognize those whose contributions have helped move the University forward.
