Chris Sabis Quoted in Bloomberg Law Article
Member Chris Sabis was quoted in “Strike Force Tests Relevance of a Trump-Era Bid to Fight Opioids”, an article published on bloomberglaw.com on May 11, 2024. The article covers the 2018 launch of the Appalachian Regional Prescription Opioid strike force by the Justice Department to combat opioid overdoses throughout Appalachia and which charged excessive prescribers as drug dealers. “While the undertaking has gone on to land more than 85 convictions, it has also had multiple jury acquittals and investigative shortcomings that former DOJ lawyers and defense attorneys say arose from inexperienced federal prosecutors lacking sufficient supervision”. Bloomberg spoke with Sabis and others who’ve either been involved with the strike force, are now litigating against it, or in some cases, both.
Chris Sabis concentrates his practice in Government Investigations, Litigation, White Collar Litigation, and Alternative Dispute Resolution. Much of his work involves fraud and abuse matters, with particularly extensive experience defending and mediating False Claims Act (FCA) cases involving allegations of healthcare and procurement fraud. He defends a wide range of clients in white-collar fraud investigations, commercial litigation, and government investigations.
